Many thanks to Mrs Kathy Stock who held the reins whilst I was on Long Service and Study Leave over the past month. I was able to acquire grants from my Principal’s Association and from Independent Schools Queensland so Jasmine Deighton and I could attend, without cost to the school, a week’s tour of Innovative Schools in U.S.A. Of course this has given us many ideas to explore and I look forward to sharing them with you over the coming months.Whilst I was away, I added on some Long Service Leave and with my husband did a trip to Mexico (as the tour started in San Diego which is 1 hour’s drive from the border) and after our tour an 8 day cruise around Alaska. How fascinated we were with the massive amount of traffic at the Mexico/U.S.A. border (over 20 lanes of highway in and out of each country) and of course, the ‘wall’ which is really just a fence which is costing $US2.7 billion to erect. We learnt the fence is actually just replacing a fence which was in place when George Bush was President but it was fascinating to see anyway. In Alaska, I was amazed by the glaciers we visited. Due to the unseasonal warm weather, we were able to see the ice melting in large shards and splashing into the ocean. How majestic is God’s creation in these places such as Alaska – His handwork on display in so many areas we visited.
It is lovely to refresh and relax from time to time but also fantastic to be back at school. I missed the students, parents and staff of Grace enormously. I especially was grateful to return for our Trivia Night organised by Talluah Harper and Jo Forrest as it was such a wonderful community event enjoyed by everyone who attended.
I am looking forward to an exciting and busy Term 4 with our Grace community.
