Love

Thursday, February 25, 2016

“I don't think you ever have to explain love to a child. In fact, I suppose as adults we can learn a lot about love from children. As adults, we often equate understanding to dictionary meanings, bullet point answers, lengthy articles and wordy quotes. Children demonstrate love without being able to articulate the meaning in words.” (Chaitra Murlidar). Love is the value on which we will be focussing at School for the remainder of this term, and if the quote above is anything to go by, there is much that our children can teach us about this concept, but what can we teach them?  ...Read More

Input Into Our Future

Thursday, February 18, 2016

This year, Grace Primary is undergoing a number of ‘reviews’ as our community focuses on planning for the future, and the School is keen to ensure that parents play a part in the various processes. Parent involvement is invited for membership of the following :
Self-Improving Schools (SIS) Committee – this is an Independent Schools Qld (ISQ) funded project, and involves a parent rep, staff and members of the School’s Leadership team in five facilitated day meetings throughout the year, along with some in-between after-school meetings. The focus is on developing an ongoing approach to self-evaluation of how our school is performing, focussing on key areas of development. The meetings (both from 9.00-3.00) for this term will be held on Monday 29 February and Wednesday 16 March.  ...Read More

Building a Great Team

Thursday, February 11, 2016

The positive start to the year continues, and the turnout at the series of Parent Information Nights with Teachers is clear evidence of the interest that our parents have in building a close partnership with our classroom teachers. A Great Start

Thursday, February 04, 2016

It has been very clear from comments made by students, staff and parents that the beginning to the new school year has been a tremendous success. Perhaps they are best summed up in one of the many Facebook postings:
“Thank you ! ….. has had so much fun this week and can't wait to get ready for school each day. We are loving being a family at Grace Lutheran Primary.” I trust that this has been your experience as well.  ...Read More

Welcome to 2016

Thursday, January 28, 2016

It was a real delight welcoming back families to school at the front gates yesterday, and the joy on the faces of the students as they proudly wore their uniform to signal the start of the new school year said it all. A very special welcome is extended to the families of the 29 new students who joined the Grace Primary community in Years 1-6, along with our incoming Prep classes.  ...Read More

The Countdown

Thursday, December 03, 2015

As the countdown continues to the end of the year, and with four school days left to go until our students begin their summer holidays, it is important to reflect on all that has been achieved, amidst the ‘hustle and bustle’ of this busy season. 2015 has been marked, like all other years, with joys and challenges, tragedy and elation, highs and lows. Amidst it all, we have continued to be blessed with a community of staff, parents and students whose overarching aim is to work together to ensure that the provision of a quality, Christian education remains central to all that we do. The students are the reason we exist!  ...Read More

A New Start

Thursday, April 23, 2015

Welcome to a new term, and I pray that all members of our community have returned renewed and refreshed by the break. The beginning of a new term is a time when there is no better opportunity to leave behind the hurt and the angst of the past, and start anew. It is also a great time to focus on what attitudes we are going to adopt as the term unfolds and the reality of life hits home.    ...Read More

Compassion In Action

Thursday, March 26, 2015

Charles Spurgeon, the nineteenth century British preacher, wrote, “If you would sum up the whole character of Christ in reference to ourselves, it might be gathered into this one sentence, He was moved with compassion.’’ As a Christian community, Grace Primary is committed to both demonstrating compassion and encouraging our students to develop an attitude of compassion to all people, regardless of who they are and where they come from. We will be focussing on the value of ‘Compassion’ in the weeks ahead, and I encourage you to have a conversation with your children as to how they demonstrate compassion on a regular basis.   ...Read More
