The Australian Curriculum: Technologies
Grace Primary has implemented ‘The Australian Curriculum: Technologies’ program. This Key Learning area is composed of two distinct but related subject areas:
- Design and Technologies, where students can use design thinking and technologies to generate and produce solutions for real world problems, and
- Digital Technologies, in which students use computational thinking and information systems to define, design and implement digital solutions.
At Grace Primary, we aim to ensure that all students benefit from learning about and working with traditional, contemporary and emerging technologies that shape the world in which we live.
By using technology (either through iPads and APPs, integrated whiteboards, robotics, drones etc) students start to draw on a range of skills and seek out various resources. Students at Grace Primary are encouraged to be innovative, independent and collaborative. The practical nature of the Technologies learning area engages students in critical and creative thinking.
BYO iPad Program
iPads are introduced into our school from Prep with students having the ability to access them in class as part of learning opportunities. Online programs such as Reading Eggs, Mathletics and Sound Waves are used. GLPS believe in providing a 21st Century Agile Flexible Education for our students. With this in mind, students in Years 4-6 can participate in a Bring Your Own iPad Program. Specifications for the device are provided in our GLPS BYOD Program Booklet which can be downloaded below.
